Europeana gets new interface
Europeana, the European portal for digitized cultural heritage, now sports a new interface designed to facilitate access to the collections of hundreds of European cultural institutions. Among the many new features are responsive layouts for smartphones and tablets and an even more user-friendly search function.
The metadata of Europeana is now published with a Creative Commons Public Domain license (CC0). In addition to this, Europeana offers an Application Programming Interface (API) making it easy for third parties to build applications on top of Europeana's services.
Several hundred cultural institutions in Europe contribute to Europeana. These currently include two institutions in Iceland: the National and University Library of Iceland and the Icelandic Institute of Natural History.Read the press release on the Europeana website.
