Interlibrary Loans (ILL) is a fee based service which obtains materials for study and research, such as books, theses, and periodical articles that are not otherwise available in the University of Iceland Library e-journals or the National consortia licences.
All interlibrary loan requests are managed through the Leitir.is system. Before placing a request, patrons are required to create an account. You can order material form other Icelandic libraries directly through Leitir.is. You simply log on, find the title in the search results list that you want to borrow. Click on the „interlibrary loans“ tab and the „ILL „button. You can also request interlibrary loans on material not found in Leitir.is. You simply press „Interlibrary Loans“ on Leitir.is and fill out the form. All fields marked with a star * must be filled and under „Library“ select Landsbókasafn Íslands – Háskólabókasafn. Under „My Account“ -> „Requests & ILL“ you can see the status of your requests.
Our price list is available here. Please note that students and researchers at the University of Iceland get a 50% discount.
You will get a notification to your e-mail address when the requested material arrives and you will then have to come to the library and pick it up at the circulation desk. Due to copyright restrictions we are not permitted to forward to our patrons articles received as PDF files from other libraries.
