„Nokkurar sögur og þættir af fornaldarmönnum Íslendinga“ − Lbs 747 fol.

The manuscript "Nokkurar sögur og þættir af fornaldarmönnum Íslendinga" is preserved in the manuscript collection of the National and University Library of Iceland (Lbs 747 fol.). It is written and decorated in the period 1871-1873 by the brothers Guðlaugur and Guðmundur Magnússon, who were workers in Hafursstaðir and Breiðabólsstaður at Fellströnd. The manuscript contains excerpts from numerous Icelandic sagas: Njáls saga, Svarfdæla saga, Valla-Ljóts saga, Víga-Glúms saga, The Tale of Thorvald Tasaldi , Reykdæla saga, Bjarnar saga Hítdælakappa, Ólafur saga helga, Thorstein the White's Saga, Vopnfirðinga saga, Landnámabók, The Tale of Thorstein Staff-Smitten, Brandkrossi´s Tale, Droplaugarsona saga, Egil's saga, Saga of Gunnlaugur Serpent-Tongue, Stuf´s Tale, Þorsteins saga Síðu-Hallssonar , The Tale of Thorstein Tent-Pitcher and Egil Sidu-Hallsson´s Tale. Many of the manuscripts contain colorful drawings of characters and events from the tales. It is now on display in the library on the exhibition Print, manuscripts, and private archives. The manuscript can also be viewed on handrit.is
