Páll Björnsson - 400 years commemoration

Exhibition in the National Library

28.10.2021 - 18.03.2022

400 years have passed since the birth of Reverend Páll Björnsson (1621–1706), a priest and provost in Selárdalur, Arnarfjörður. His life can be described as a tragedy, even though he was in a privileged class all his life. He was an active scholar and many of his manuscripts are in the Manuscript Collection, but Reverend Páll is especially remembered for having seven people burned in the age of sorcery. Gunnar Marel Hinriksson has compiled the material for the exhibition.
