The National and University Library of Iceland in conjuction with the Writers’ Union of Iceland, will present the May Star Poetry Award, for the fifth time this May.

Nominations to the May Star 2021 were presented on April 22.

Nominees are:
Brynja Hjálmsdóttir:  Kona lítur við by Brynja Hjálmsdóttir (Una útgáfuhús)

Haukur Ingvarsson: Menn sem elska menn (Mál og menning)

Ólafur Sveinn Jóhannesson: Klettur – Ljóð úr sprungum (Bjartur)

Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson: Laus blöð (Bjartur)

Soffía Bjarnadóttir: Verði ljós, elskan (Angústúra)

Þórdís Helgadóttir: Tanntaka (Mál og menning)

Nominated books of poetry are on display in the Library’s entrance.

Soffía Auður Birgisdóttir appointed by the Writer‘s Union of Iceland and Birgir Freyr Lúðvígsson by the National and University Library of Iceland, are the judging panel. The award will be presented at a ceremony at the National Library in May.
