Nominations to the May Star Poetry Award

The National and University Library of Iceland in conjuction with the Writers’ Union of Iceland, will present the May Star Poetry Award, for the fifth time this May.

Nominations to the May Star 2022 were presented on April 26.

Nominees are:

Skurn by Arndís Lóa Magnúsdóttir (Una útgáfuhús)

Allt sem rennur by Bergþóra Snæbjörnsdóttir (Benedikt)

Sjófuglinn by Egill Ólafsson (Bjartur)

Urta by Gerður Kristný (Mál og menning)

Máltaka á stríðstímum by Natasha S. (Una útgáfuhús)

Plómur by Sunna Dís Másdóttir. (Mál og menning)


Nominated books of poetry are on display in the Library’s entrance.

Eligible were all published Icelandic poetry books of the year 2022 that were submitted through legal deposit to the National and University Library of Iceland.

Arnór Ingi Hjartarson, appointed by the Writer‘s Union of Iceland and Emma Björk Hjálmarsdóttir by the National and University Library of Iceland, are the judging panel. The award will be presented at a ceremony at the National Library on the 24th of May.
