Exhibition in the National Library

The exhibition is about outsiders in Iceland from the 18th century until the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition covers social changes in Iceland and changes of laws and regulations on wanderers and paupers, residence and ways of working. The exhibition also provides insight into the lives of outsiders and covers characteristics of those people.

Many manuscripts and documents, preserved at the library᾽s manuscript department, are on display. Illustrations for the exhibition are made by Halldór Baldursson and photographs from the library᾽s special collections and from The Reykjavík Museum of Photography.

The exhibition is open until September 30th 2013.
