The National and University Library of Iceland is open 9:00 – 17:00 on weekdays. Closed on weekends.
The library is open with limitations due to the assembly ban. These include a ban on gatherings of more than 200 people and that people maintain a distance of two (2) metres between individuals whenever possible.
200 people are allowed on each floor of the library building, Þjóðarbókhlaða, at the same time.
We recommend that guests disinfect tables, keyboards and copiers they use, on arrival and after use. Disinfectants and gloves are provided on each floor.
Study rooms and Group study rooms are open.
The sitting area on second floor is open but the Library café is closed.
Library staff reserve the right to close or vacate areas as needed. If guests do not comply with the rules above, they may be asked to leave the building.
