Halldór Laxness (1902–1998) should be known to most Icelanders, so well known are his works among the nation. But besides his writing he took a considerable part in cultural affairs and politics, and wrote a great deal on those subjects in newspapers and periodicals. Editions of Halldór’s books have been brought together and form the core of the Halldór Laxness Collection. It holds nearly all the Icelandic and foreign editions of his works, as well as a considerable number of works written about him.
