Icelandic book history 2015–2016

This winter the National and University Library of Iceland will hold the lecture series Íslensk bóksaga (Icelandic Book History) for the second time. Its aim is to create a forum for discussing Icelandic book history of later centuries in a wide context, both printed and handwritten books. Talks will describe the history of individual books and manuscripts, how they came about and how they were received, present categories of sources found in manuscript collections and archives, and discuss recent projects that relate to Icelandic book history in one way or another. The speakers come from the staff of the National and University Library of Iceland, the National Archives of Iceland, the University of Iceland and Linköping University Library, and from independent scholars.

The lectures take place in the lecture hall of Þjóðarbókhlaða, the library building at Arngrímsgata 3, 12:05–12:45. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

The lecture series is funded by the Research Fund of Sigrún Á. Sigurðardóttir and Haraldur Sigurðsson.
