At the end of November the writer Pétur Gunnarsson handed over the manuscript and drafts of his novel Punktur punktur komma strik (Dot Dot Comma Dash). The novel was first published in 1976, was an immediate success and was, for example, taught in the country’s schools a year later. It follows the childhood and youth of its hero, Andri Haraldsson, whose story continues in Pétur’s later works Ég um mig frá mér til mín (1978), Persónur og leikendur (1982) and Sagan öll (1985). The novel was filmed, directed by Þorsteinn Jónsson, and the film premiered in March 1981. The manuscript fills four folders and includes, among other things, Pétur’s first drafts of the work from 1969 and 1971, when he was studying philosophy at university in France. The manuscript shows how the work developed, so this gift is a great asset for the Manuscript Collection.
