A national campaign is launched today, 19 March, at 11:00 in the lecture hall of Þjóðarbókhlaða, the library building at Arngrímsgata 3
This year Iceland celebrates the centenary of women’s suffrage. To mark it, the National and University Library of Iceland, the National Archives of Iceland and the regional archives are holding a national campaign to collect women’s papers, and they encourage people to give them to the archives. Letters, diaries and other personal papers can give an insight into the lives of individuals and their families, and they also shed light on the history of the country and the nation.
