The Library’s new open access policy was approved by the executive board on 28 November. The Library signed the Berlin Declaration on Open Access in 2012.
The policy states that the National and University Library of Iceland supports open access to material and data on the internet. The Library takes an active part in promoting open access to the nation’s cultural heritage, to research results and to scholarly material in Iceland.
