Reykjavík in 1918: the view from personal sources

At the Humanities Conference (Hugvísindaþing) on Saturday, staff of the Manuscript Collection and the Women’s History Archives will talk about the sources used in the project “R1918.” The project, run in cooperation with the Reykjavík Arts Festival and RÚV, consists mainly of readings from sources such as diaries and letters from 1918, kept at the National and University Library of Iceland (in the Manuscript Collection and the Women’s History Archives), that describe life in Reykjavík in 1918. The readings are broadcast on Rás 1 every day at 12:03 and run until June. See their website here: http://www.ruv.is/thaettir/r1918

The historian Erla Dóris Halldórsdóttir will chair the session, and besides the Library’s staff the historian Gunnar Þór Bjarnason will give an introductory talk.
