Service agreement for Sarpur

Landskerfi bókasafna hf. (LB, the Consortium of Icelandic Libraries) and Rekstrarfélag Sarps (RS, the Sarpur operating association) have concluded a service agreement for two years from 1 September. Under the cooperation, LB takes over the day-to-day running of RS, and Sarpur’s manager will start work with facilities on LB’s premises. The aim of the cooperation is to achieve:

  • better quality control of cataloguing in Sarpur,
  • stronger user support for Sarpur,
  • better public access to the data in Sarpur by making them available through leitir.is, and
  • consistent cataloguing of different kinds of collections in the longer term.

RS is a public body owned by many museums and institutions owned by the state and local authorities, such as the National Museum of Iceland, regional museums and other museums and institutions that keep collections of records. The association owns and runs the database Sarpur.
