Open study space for groups
The 2nd floor has group tables for small and large groups. In Þjóðarbókhlaða, the library building at Arngrímsgata 3, the Library sets out to protect visitors’ peace to work and gives each area its own noise level. The 2nd floor is a “talking floor”: visitors may chat and use their phones here. The books on the 2nd floor are handbooks and reference works, for use in the building only.
Computers and internet
Opposite the service desk: access to the internet and word-processing software.
Þjóðarbókhlaða has a wireless network (LBS-HotSpot) that anyone can join with their own laptop or mobile device.
Printing and photocopying
Visitors can print from the Library’s computers to the printer at the service desk. Staff hand out the printouts at the loans desk.
There is a photocopier on the 2nd floor of the building.
Group study rooms
Þjóðarbókhlaða has group study rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors. The rooms seat 2–10 people. You can book a group study room on the Library’s booking site. The smallest group that can book a room is 2–3 people. Eating and drinking are not allowed; only drinks in closed containers may be brought in.
Study rooms
The 26 study rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors are meant first and foremost for scholars, postgraduate students and others who are working on a particular project and need the Library’s material for it. Two of the rooms have computers with word processing, internet access and more.
Lockers
There are about 150 lockers in all for visitors to use. Staff at the loans desk on the 2nd floor hand out the keys when you show your library card and pay a deposit. You may not keep the Library’s books in a locker unless you have borrowed them first. Items that cannot be borrowed may not be kept in the lockers. Never keep food in the lockers.
