The Iceland Consortium for Electronic Subscriptions – hvar.is recently made an agreement with the publisher Springer to buy new e-books. Access to about 1,000 titles is already open, and about 2,000 more will be added during the year. The books are in the following fields: Humanities, Social Science & Law; Business and Economics; Computer Science; Biomedical and Life Science; Earth and Environmental Science.
For the time being the books will be available only on the search site SpringerLink , where they are hidden among many other works that there is no access to. They are in PDF format, which can be saved on your own computer and read on e-readers, smartphones, tablets or other devices that support PDF.
The e-books will soon be made available in more places than SpringerLink , but there is a link to it on the website of the Iceland Consortium for Electronic Subscriptions, hvar.is , and under Electronic resources here on the Library’s website.
