The Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies is holding a symposium entitled "On Natural Sciences in Early History" in the National Library, Lecture Hall on the 2nd floor, on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
The symposium begins at 1:30 p.m. and ends around 4:30 p.m.
Four talks will be given as follows:

How did new theories and methods related to science reach Iceland in the years 1700-1850?

A brief introduction to arithmetic – Search for authors Kristín Bjarnadóttir, Associate Professor of Mathematics Education
Icelanders' knowledge of glaciers until the end of the 18th century Helgi Björnsson, glaciologist
Moderator: Þór Jakobsson, meteorologist
The presentation of each talk takes about 20 minutes.
About 10 minutes will be given for questions and discussion after each presentation.
Refreshments will be available during the break in front of the lecture hall on the 2nd floor.
