Delivery of data to the Music Museum – Göran Bergendal

Delivery of data to the Music Museum – Göran Bergendal

The Swedish musicologist Göran Bergendal, who worked for a long time for Sveriges Radio, donated his data on Icelandic musicians to the Icelandic Music Museum on July 2. His collection includes manuscripts of articles on Icelandic music and recordings of interviews. Göran published the book New music in Iceland in 1991 in collaboration with the then Tónverkamístöð and it is available online at baekur.is. The collection is on the collection label: TSÍ 2024/11 Göran Bergendal (b. 1938): Private Archives. Göran first came to Iceland on the occasion of the Reykjavík Arts Festival in 1972 and has been a regular visitor to the country ever since. He was accompanied by his wife Lena and their daughter. The composers Hjálmar H. Ragnarsson and Karólína Eiríksdóttir mediated the transfer of the data to Iceland. Also present at the ceremony were two former museum employees, Bjarki Sveinbjörnsson and Jón Hrólfur Sigurjónsson.
