Recently, the Information Literacy Teaching Website was launched. The website is the result of a collaborative group of university libraries on information literacy teaching and the project received a grant from the Library Fund. Information literacy is a fundamental skill that all university students need to possess, not only to cope with academic demands but also to use information responsibly and critically in an ever-changing information society.
Education about source work
The educational website www.upplýsingalæsi.is contains a variety of learning materials that cover both the basics and more complex operations of source searching. The website places special emphasis on helping students organize source searches and evaluate information in project work. By taking this online course, students can develop these skills and gain increased confidence in searching for sources and information in their studies.
Accessibility
The website is accessible to everyone and offers simple and user-friendly learning materials consisting of videos, diagrams, text and short tasks. It takes about 80 minutes to complete the course. Students can go through the material at their own pace, so the course is suitable both as a basic course for new students and as a refresher course for those who want to improve their knowledge of information literacy.
