    International Open Access Week 2025 – Who owns the knowledge?

    International Open Access Week takes place from 20–26 October and is entitled “ Who Owns Our Knowledge? ” The focus is on ownership and access to knowledge in modern society and how society can work together to promote open access to research results.

    To mark the week, the National Library of Iceland – University Library and partners are offering a diverse podcast program discussing open access from different perspectives:

    • Sharing creativity – open access and artistic research : On copyright, ownership, artificial intelligence and research in the arts.
    • Diamond Open Access in the Nordic Region : About Nordic cooperation in supporting sustainable, non-profit publishing.
    • The next generation of research infrastructure : About Scite.ai, an evidence-driven approach and critical thinking in education.
    • Open Access Publishing – Human Right vs. Monetised Commodity : On the development of scientific publishing and knowledge as a human right.

    There will also be an online seminar on data stewardship in the Nordic context on Wednesday, October 22nd, 12–2 pm, hosted by Gagnís together with the Nordic Data Stewardship Network.
