Last week, several student groups from the summer school in manuscript studies organized by the Árna Institute, Árna Museum in Copenhagen, the University of Iceland and the National Library of Iceland – University Library visited the National Library. The students received an introductory presentation on the National Library of Iceland’s manuscript collection, about manuscripts from later centuries, music in manuscripts and the role of women in manuscripts. They then got to look at carefully selected manuscripts from the manuscript collection. Finally, the students completed group projects in the reading room on the 1st floor. Teachers from the National Library of Iceland-HBS were Bragi Þorgrímur Ólafsson, Guðrún Laufey Guðmundsdóttir, Halldóra Kristinsdóttir and Hildur Ploder. This year, the group consists of about 70 students from many countries. The school runs from 1-10 August 2018.
