The Hagþenki award was presented at a ceremony on March 2nd at the National Library. The award was given to Aðalheiður Guðmundsdóttir for the books: Arfur aldanna I: Handan hindarfjalls, Arfur aldanna II: Norðvegur which were published by Háskólóutgáfan. The award was presented by the chairman of Hagþenki, Ásdís Thoroddsen. The selection was made by an awards committee consisting of five members from different academic fields: Auðunn Arnórsson, Árni Einarsson, Halldóra Kristinsdóttir, Súsanna Margrét Gestsdóttir and Svanhildur Óskarsdóttir, who presented the committee's reasoning, which states, among other things: "In [The Legacy of the Ages I-II], Aðalheiður [Guðmundsdóttir] opens readers to a diverse and fascinating comparative material, ranging from chronicles in Latin and Germanic heroic poems to carving, weaving and stone carvings. She clearly summarizes the research of previous scholars (written in various languages) while also describing new methods for approaching this heritage, for example those that take into account theories of memory or of live transmission and the influence of the audience on the creation of historical material." On this occasion, a micro-exhibition has been set up in the National Library.
