The School of Education Library in Stakkahlíð has been merged with the National Library of Iceland – University Library, and this is the first phase in the School of Education's relocation to the University Campus.
Most of the collection is now in place, amidst other collections in the Library. However, the educational materials collection, along with a selection of children's books, is still awaiting future housing in Saga, where a branch will be set up when the School of Education moves there. The branch is scheduled to open before the end of this year and will also include work facilities for students.
The library has always played an important role in the history of teacher education in this country, being a center of knowledge about educational issues, and will continue to do so under a new roof.
