The National and University Library of Iceland is advertising a vacancy for a Director of Information Services.
The professional group provides the university community and museum visitors with a wide range of information services, including education and guidance about the museum, the website and databases. The main tasks of the professional group are museum education, teaching information literacy, individual counseling, source searches, interlibrary loans and welcoming groups.
The Information Services Manager leads the group's projects and takes the initiative in developing the unit's activities. He is responsible for the editorial management of the museum's main website and for distributing news content on social media. He is responsible for information services to museum visitors and access to databases.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Supervision and responsibility for daily work in information services
- Performs or supervises all tasks of the professional group
- Museum education and teaching
- Main website and social media editor
- Supervision of the manual room on the 2nd floor
Qualification requirements
- University degree in library and information science
- At least 5 years of practical work experience
- Experience in information services and museum education
- Very good computer skills and knowledge of web and social media
- Very good Icelandic language skills and writing skills
- Good knowledge of English and preferably one Nordic language
- Initiative and independent working methods
- Organizational skills and strong communication skills

Salary according to the current collective agreement between the Minister of Finance and the relevant union.
