The Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies holds a symposium
under the heading
New research on the history of Iceland in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries
in the National Library, lecture hall on the 2nd floor,
Saturday, October 21, 2017.
The symposium begins at 1:30 PM and ends no later than 4:15 PM.
Four talks will be given as follows:
Luxury and extravagance
Helga Hlín Bjarnadóttir , MA in history and employee of the National Archives of Iceland
District physicians and their involvement in obstetric care in the 18th and 19th centuries
Erla Dóris Halldórsdóttir , postdoctoral fellow in history and nurse

Kristrún Halla Helgadóttir , MA in history and expert at the Icelandic Genetics Institute
Moderator: Halldór Baldursson, physician and historian
The presentation of each talk takes about 20 minutes.
About 10 minutes will be given for questions and discussion after each presentation.
During the break, refreshments will be served in front of the lecture hall.
