On the occasion of International Translators' Day on September 30th and European Day of Languages on September 26th, we would like to draw attention to several important databases that can be found on the Electronic Data list on the museum's website.
- Communication & Mass Media Complete (CMMC) references the content of around 750 journals in the fields of media, languages, linguistics, sign language and translation studies, of which 500 journals are full-text. CMMC is only open to users on the university network and is one of the databases that EbscoHost provides access to.
- Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts (LLBA) cites material from about 1200 journals in the fields of linguistics, grammar, and language. It often includes links to the full text of articles. Open nationwide.
- MLA – Modern Languages Association cites material in the fields of literature, linguistics, and ethnography that has appeared in about 5,000 journals. There are sometimes links to the full text of articles. Open on the university network. MLA and LLBA are among the many databases that ProQuest provides access to.
More databases and websites with interesting content can be found on the museum's website under My Subject – Language and My Subject – Linguistics.
Last but not least, mention should be made of the search engine l eitir.is , which allows you to search from the same place in the registers of Icelandic museums as well as content in foreign journals that are available in national access.
