    Icelandic entertainment in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries

    The Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies is holding a symposium entitled

    Icelandic entertainment in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries

     in the National Library, lecture hall on the 2nd floor,

    Saturday, November 26, 2016 .

     

    The symposium begins at 1:30 PM and ends no later than 4:15 PM.

     

    Four talks will be given as follows:

     

    On humor and sarcasm, humor and laughter in Icelandic folk tales

    Adalheidur Gudmundsdottir
    professor of ancient Icelandic literature at the University of Iceland

     

    Humor in poetry in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries

    Kristjan Eiriksson
    Research assistant at the Árni Magnússon Institute of Icelandic Studies, now emeritus

    Moderator: Kristín Bragadóttir
    PhD student in history at the University of Iceland

     

    The presentation of each talk takes about 20 minutes.

    About 10 minutes will be given for questions and discussion after each presentation.

     

    During breaks, the company offers coffee breaks.
