A. Printed files
Printed records of the manuscript collection are on display in the museum's reading room: three main volumes published between 1918 and 1937 and four supplementary volumes published between 1947 and 1996. These records have also been digitized and are available at www.bækur.is .
To facilitate searching the manuscript files, word processing documents have been prepared with a Name Index and Table of Contents for all volumes. The numbers in the files refer to serial numbers and not collection boundaries.

B. Special files
Various special registers of manuscripts and documents are accessible to users in the hall. Some of them are also accessible online. This list is not exhaustive.

C. Guides to archives and manuscript collections
Here are published guides to the document and manuscript collections of individuals and institutions. This is an addition to what is already in printed files. The guides will initially be in PDF format and may change as the description of the data becomes more detailed. The origin and presentation of the guides vary, but the goal is to make the information accessible from one place. The list is structured as follows. First comes the name of the document creator. Then the nature of the data, whether it is a letter, document and/or manuscript collection and what period the data covers. Finally, in parentheses is the collection limit of the data.
