According to the results of a new reading survey by the Icelandic Literature Centre, which was published today on Icelandic Language Day, it appears that over the past year, about half of the population has visited libraries or used their electronic services. Women use library services more often than men. The vast majority of the population believes it is important that Icelandic literature has access to public support. The use of audiobooks has increased significantly, but the reading of printed books has decreased. Books are popular as gifts and novels are the most popular reading material in all age groups.
A more detailed explanation of the survey results is available on the website of the Icelandic Literature Centre .
