This winter, the National and University Library of Iceland will host the lecture series Icelandic Book History for the second time. Its aim is to create a platform where the history of Icelandic books in later centuries will be discussed in a broad context, both printed and handwritten books. The lecture will discuss the history of individual books and manuscripts, their genesis and reception, introduce source categories that can be found in manuscripts and archives, and discuss recent projects that relate to Icelandic book history in one way or another. Lecturers will come from the staff of the National and University Library of Iceland, the National Archives of Iceland, the University of Iceland, the University Library in Linköping, and independent scholars.
The lectures will take place in the National Library's lecture hall between 12:05-12:45. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
The lecture series is supported by the Sigrún Á. Sigurðardóttir and Haraldur Sigurðsson Research Fund.
