
The Icelandic Literature Prize was presented for the 31st time at a ceremony in Bessastaðir on January 28. Prizes are awarded in the categories of fiction, non-fiction and general interest, and children's and young adult literature.
The winners of this year's Icelandic Literature Prize are Sölvi Björn Sigursson in the fiction category for her book Selta: Apokrýfa úr évi landlæknis, Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir in the children's and young adult books category for her book Langelstur að éivílju, and Jón Viðar Jónsson for his book Stars and Powers on the Stages of Reykjavíkur 1925-1965 in the non-fiction and general books category.
Jón Viðar's book, which is a personal and artistic history of Icelandic actors from 1925-65, is the result of his work at the Icelandic Theatre Museum, but last year its collection was transferred to the National Library of Iceland – University Library and the National Museum of Iceland.
