    Translator and author John Swedenmark recently visited the museum. He lives in Stockholm and has translated novels by numerous Icelandic authors into Swedish, including books by Einar Kárason, Gyrðir Elíasson, Friðrik Erlingsson, Hallgrím Helgason, Jón Kalman Stefánsson, Steinunni Sigurðardóttir, Kristína Steinsdóttir, Sjón, Eirík Örn Norðdahl, Þórarin Eldjárn and many others. He has also translated a considerable amount of poetry by Icelandic authors, most recently Kristína Ómarsdóttir, Linda Vilhjálmsdóttir and others, as well as Icelandic plays. Swedenmark has received the Swedish Academy's Translation Prize and in 2019 he received the Orðstír, an honorary award for translations of Icelandic literature into a foreign language. An exhibition of Swedenmark's published translations is currently on display at the museum, and he visited the exhibition.
