Thorvaldsens Society Christmas sign

    Thorvaldsens Society Christmas sign

The museum's Christmas exhibition features a selection of Christmas stamps from the Thorvaldsen Society's Child Education Fund, marking 100 years since the society issued its first Christmas stamp to support a good cause. Many of the nation's leading artists have lent the society an image to adorn the society's stamp, such as Júlíana Sveinsdóttir, Jóhannes Kjarval, Nína Tryggvadóttir and Ásgrímur Jónsson. The first stamp featured a drawing by Benedikt Gröndal of the Mountain Woman. This year's Christmas stamp is designed by Baltasar Samper and is called Tré Jesaja. Proceeds from the sale of this year's stamp will go to Reykjadalur.
