National access to electronic subscriptions supports the ICOLC statement on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on library collections and services.

The statement is published by ICOLC – the international organization of subscription societies, of which Landsaðgang að e-subscriptur á Iceland is a member. It was written by members of the organization in the shadow of the fact that the activities of schools and universities in 49 countries have been significantly reduced or teaching is being done remotely. The aim of the statement is to point out to publishers of scientific content the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on information societies worldwide and to also provide them with guidance on how to deal with the situation in a cost-effective manner for both publishers and libraries. Publishers are encouraged to work with the ICOLC organization and libraries and seek ways to increase access to scientific research and research data.
