Larus Sigurbjornsson

Larus Sigurbjornsson

In 1993, the children of Lárus Sigurbjörnsson (1903–1974), former archivist and custodian of the city of Reykjavík, donated his entire collection of plays to the National and University Library of Iceland, which was transferred to the museum for preservation in 1995. Lárus was in many ways one of the pioneers of Icelandic drama in this century and collected everything related to the history of drama. His collection not only contains the manuscripts of most Icelandic and translated plays that had been performed in this country during his lifetime, but also plays, play catalogues, clippings from Icelandic and foreign newspapers, as well as various other things related to drama.
