The Hagþenki Award was presented on February 28th at the National Library at a ceremony and was received by Steinunn Kristjánsdóttir for her book Leitin að klausturnum – klästurhald á Íslandi ir kiði sæðir þe The Icelandic Historical Society and the National Museum of Iceland published it. In the concluding remarks of the award committee, it was said about the publication : An extensive and well-executed study that sheds new light on the history of monasticism in Iceland. The author's narrative style gives the work added value. Sverrir Guðjónsson performed music at the ceremony. On this occasion, a small exhibition has been set up where you can see, among other things, Steinunn's diaries, a mortar and pestle and a statue of Saint Dorothy that was found on the monastery site in Viðey in 1987. The exhibition runs until September 10.
