The artist Magnús Pálsson recently visited the National Library of Iceland with his wife Frances Cowan and set and costume designer Þórunn Þorgrímsdóttir. The reason for the visit was the handover of documents related to his work in the theatre. These include costume designs for Antigone, which premiered at the National Theatre in 1955 under the direction of Baldvin Halldórsson, play scripts, tickets to performances of Gríma and an enormous amount of electronic data.
Magnús has a decades-long theatre career, but he started working at the National Theatre shortly after the theatre opened. Later he also worked for the Reykjavík Theatre Company along with numerous other theatre companies and was one of the founders of the theatre company Gríma. Ingibjörg Steinunn Sverrisdóttir, National Librarian, Örn Hrafnkelsson, Head of the Preservation Department, and Sigríður Jónsdóttir, a specialist at the Theatre Museum, welcomed the guests.
