The Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies is holding a symposium entitled
Women's rights in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries
in the National Library, lecture hall on the 2nd floor
Saturday, February 15, 2014.
The symposium begins at 1:30 PM and ends no later than 4:30 PM.
Four talks will be given as follows:
A chef and his girlfriend in a market town
Guðný Hallgrímsdóttir , doctoral student in history
Convicted women in the Nathan case
Eggert Þór Bernharðsson , professor of applied cultural communication
COFFEE BREAK
On the honorable moderation of virtuous women
Margaret Gunnarsdottir, doctoral student in history
Sigurlaug, the mistress of a wealthy man
Ragnhildur Bragadóttir , historian
Moderator: Kristín Svava Tómasdóttir, historian and poet
The presentation of each talk takes about 20 minutes.
About 10 minutes will be given for questions and discussion after each presentation.
During the break, refreshments will be served in front of the lecture hall.
