A memorial walk in connection with the exhibition about Guðrún Lárusdóttir at the National Library "But time flew by..." will take place on Monday, August 27th at 4 pm – the funeral day of Guðrún Lárusdóttir and her two daughters Guðrún Valgerðar and Sigrún Kristín who died with her.
The march begins at 4 pm at Ás, Sólvallagata 23 in Reykjavík. Málfríður Finnbogadóttir leads the march. The route will be the same as the funeral procession took 80 years ago – east on Sólvallagata to Hólatorg, north on Garðastræti, down Túngáta and Kirkjustræti, past the Parliament House and stopping at the Cathedral. Then the same route will be taken back to Hólavallari Cemetery, where a wreath will be laid. The march will end at the National Library at the exhibition “But Time Has Gone by…”
Because there are few parking spaces near Ás, we suggest that those planning to walk park most of their cars at the National Library and then agree to go from there in a few cars to Ás.
The picture shows Guðrún's descendants together with Málfríður Finnbogadóttir at the unveiling of a monument to Guðrún at Tungufljót on the anniversary of her death.
