The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, the National Librarian and a representative of Sögur Publishing House recently signed an agreement on online publishing rights for the complete editions of Icelandic sagas and episodes in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. The aim of the agreement is to ensure the best possible public access to the important cultural heritage contained in the sagas and episodes. The agreement envisages that access to the texts will be fully open by 2025.
The agreement was signed by Illugi Gunnarsson, Minister of Education and Culture, Ingibjörg Sverrisdóttir, National Librarian, and Jóhann Sigurðsson, Managing Director of Saga Publishing.
