Nonni Collection
The writer and Jesuit Jón Sveinsson (1857–1944) emigrated from Iceland at a young age and lived abroad thereafter. He is best known for his stories about Nonni and Manni, which are based on the author's childhood memories. He also wrote travel books about his travels to Iceland, America and Japan. In 1987, Haraldur Hannesson, an economist and librarian, presented the National Library of Iceland with a collection of memoirs about Jón Sveinsson. It was a joint gift from him and the Jesuit Order. The collection contains Nonni's writings in most editions, domestic and foreign, books and newspaper clippings about him and photographs. Also Nonni's manuscripts, diaries, letters and notebooks. The collection is in very good condition, all manuscripts are bound and letters and small prints are stored in boxes.
