The exhibition And His Wife is organized by Equality Days at the University of Iceland and the Icelandic Women's History Museum at the National Library of Iceland - University Library.

The exhibition will open in the lobby of the National Library at 5:00 PM on February 10th and will run until Friday, February 14th. It features photographs from the collection of the Women's History Museum along with text works and clippings.

Also at lunchtime on all exhibition days, the sound work Og kona hans by Eirík Stephensen and Margréti Kristínu Blöndal will be performed, which is one of four works that belonged to the sound installation Hljóðrás daðanns which was staged in Hólavallagarður from August 19th to 22nd, 2023.

The work is inspired by the well-known inscription "…and his wife" which was common on tombstones in earlier times and was descriptive of the status of women. The work ends with a funeral hymn dedicated to men with given names, family names and professional titles… and their wives.
