The Institute of History of the University of Iceland invites you to a two-day open symposium on the communication of history, which opened in the museum on Thursday, September 26, and continues at the University Square and in the National Archives of Iceland. The conference is held with a grant from the Rector of the University of Iceland to support community action. The aim of the conference is to initiate a dialogue between academic historians and society and to ask challenging questions about the relationship between scholarship and communication. It is worth noting that the annual Jón Sigurðsson Memorial Lecture will take place on the first day of the conference, where Thomas Cauvin, Associate Professor of History for the Public at the University of Luxembourg, will deliver a paper and discuss the communication of history with Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, former President of Iceland and Professor of History at the University of Iceland.
