On Friday, April 22nd at 4 p.m., an exhibition of Snorri Hjartarson's poems was opened at the National Library. It is entitled Into the Green Forests. At the same time, the Publishing House celebrated the 3rd edition of the poet's collection of poems.
A large crowd attended the opening, where literary scholar Páll Valsson presented the National and University Library of Iceland with documents from Snorri Hjartarson's collection. The Neskirkja Choir performed "Hvíld", a song by Hugi Guðmundsson set to the poet's poem, under the direction of Steingrímur Þórhallsson, and pianist Guðrún Dalía Salómonsdóttir and soprano Hallveig Rúnarsdóttir premiered a song by Þorvald Gylfason set to the poem by Snorri, "Vor".
Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former President of Iceland, gave a speech and opened the exhibition along with a website featuring Snorri's poems.
The exhibition showcases the poetic gems of Snorri Hjartarson. The poems greet visitors to the National Library in the museum's corridors, and they can also use a tablet in the exhibition area and listen to the poems read by Gunnar Þorsteinsson, translator and poet.
