Printing workshop and bookshop in the Museum House on Museum Night

Printing workshop and bookshop in the Museum House on Museum Night

The National Library of Iceland-University Library is participating in Museum Night tonight at the Winter Festival in collaboration with the Museum House and the National Museum from 6-10 p.m. The mobile printing workshop, Print & Friends, will be in the old reading room in the Museum House.
Visitors can print their own book on site. For inspiration, visit the special exhibition Book Works on the third floor of the Museum Building. The National Library of Iceland-University Library displays various interesting examples from its collection, about creative print work, bookbinding and experiments with the form of the book. In the workshop in the reading room, you can then browse through artistic books and get further ideas. All facilities, materials and tools for printmaking are on site. Visual artists Leifur Ýmir Eyjólfsson and Sigurður Atli Sigurðsson will guide you through different techniques and methods, and they run the print workshop Prent & vinir.

Books on the Back will have a micro-store in the lobby of the Museum House on Museum Night between 6-10pm.
Books Behind is a bookshop in Reykjavík with a focus on domestic and international art books and books from independent and rare publishers. The shop's goal is to increase the visibility of works by designers and artists that are published in small editions, independently or by smaller publishers, and includes several books that are on display at the exhibition Books in the Museum Building.
