    On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Jón Árnason, folklore collector and national librarian, a conference will be held and an exhibition opened at the National Library on September 7, 2019.

     

    Agenda:

    13:00 – 13:15 The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Lilja Dögg Alfreðsdóttir, delivers an address and unveils a relief in the lobby of the National Library.

    13:20 – 13:30 National Librarian, Ingibjörg Steinunn Sverrisdóttir, will give an address.

    13:30 – 13:50 Soffía Auður Birgisdóttir and Arndís Hulda Auðunsdóttir: "My dear, good God!" Correspondence between Jón Árnason and the children of Sveinbjarn Egilsson and Helga Benediktsdóttir Gröndal.

    13:50 – 14:10 Hólmfríður K. Gunnarsdóttir: “This is what happens to those you know best and are most trusted by.” Letter from Rev. Jón Þórðarson to Jón Árnason.
