Electronic content
The library also preserves materials published in electronic form and on the public computer network. Such materials are preserved in Rafhlaðan , the museum's electronic archive, and on Tímarit.is . Materials that are subject to legal deposit include e-books, reports, magazines, newspapers, sheet music, and much more.
If material is published in both printed and electronic form, both are subject to legal deposit according to the Act on legal deposit. The same applies to different versions, new or modified.
Who should submit?
The publisher and/or manufacturer is responsible for the submission of electronic content.
Delivery method
Submissions are made through the library's electronic drop box . More than one file may be attached to each submission, but their total size can be up to 8GB.
You can also send electronic materials to the email address: rafhladan@landsbokasafn.is
Any submission larger than 60MB must go through the library's electronic drop box.
Content is also accepted through cloud services such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, etc., but only if the files are very large and/or multiple.
Materials may also be submitted on USB keys or CDs. Such returns should be sent by post or delivered to the library reception, marked "Legal deposit".
The submission must include information on how the material will be made available, whether it should be open or closed access for an indefinite period of time. Material must be in PDF, ePub or Mobi format. DRM rights management (Digital Rights Management) must be removed from e-books so that they can be registered. This also applies to material that will be in closed access. PDF files of magazines, newspapers and newsletters must be of the best quality (printing house quality) and without crop lines. The publication itself and its cover/front page must be in the same PDF document, and one page of the publication must open on each PDF page of the document, not the whole document.
All inquiries about electronic submissions should be sent to skylduskil@landsbokasafn.is
