On September 9, a book donation was delivered to the National Library of Iceland – University Library on behalf of READ JAPAN PROJECT 2025, a project that aims to promote knowledge and understanding of Japan.

The museum received a total of 44 English books on Japanese society, history, culture, literature, language, politics and international affairs, as well as manga works. The books will strengthen the museum's collection and make it easier for students, scholars and the public to access a wide range of materials about Japan.

At the ceremony, National Librarian Örn Hrafnkelsson and Japanese Ambassador to Iceland Takewaka delivered addresses. After the ceremony, guests were given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the selection of books, which aroused great interest among those present.

READ JAPAN PROJECT is an international project that promotes a greater understanding of Japan by donating English-language books about Japanese society and culture to libraries, universities, and research institutions around the world.

The National Library of Iceland thanks the Embassy of Japan in Iceland, the Tokyo Foundation and The Nippon Foundation for this noble gift, which will be used for study, research and increased understanding of Japanese culture and society.
