In June 2016, a micro-exhibition was set up in the museum about the history of the telephone directory. The first telephone directory was published on August 15, 1905, by the Reykjavík Telephone Company. The company was founded in 1904 and had 20 users in March 1905, when the telephone exchange was opened, but when the directory was published in August, the number of numbers had increased to 145. In January 1906, a supplement was published, bringing the number to 173. Now, in 2016, the use of the telephone directory has decreased and users now mostly rely on ja.is if they need to look up numbers. On this occasion, the directory was published in a commemorative edition, for the last time, and includes a historical overview written by Stefán Pálsson. The exhibition ended on September 18.
